House with Coffee

Doodle Divas was excited to help come up with a concept for a local diva dj this month:

If you're in town January 10th, come get your dance on at Eagle St. Coffee House, (aka Eagle Street Coffee Emporium).  A bonafide diva will be spinning House music to keep you in the groove! :-)

Hope everyone is having a fantastic start to the new year!!!

Phooey!

It's that time of year.  School has started back up.   

Summer is about over.  The sunny days of  shorts, flip flops and pool parties is about over.

Phooey.

And the days will get shorter.  It will get darker sooner. Before long it will be the bleak, dreary, cold days of Winter.

Double phooey.

But . . . 

 . . . For now, it's still Summer!  

Yay!

And between that and Winter is Fall, which is gorgeous!

Double yay! 

And then it will be Winter which means . . . 

. . . Thanksgiving . . . 

 and . . . 

. . .  Christmas! 

And maybe we'll get some snow this year.

WOO TO THE HOO!  

So, er, uh, ahem, like I said . . . 

I can't wait for the cozy, snuggly, hot chocolatey, cool boots, coats, sweaters and darting around in the snow in my big-deal-so-it's-snowing-lets-go-for-a-ride-Subaru!!!

But I'll enjoy the sunny weather for all its worth until then.

Am I in?

So my uber important meeting was rescheduled to show my wares.  I'm vying for a super duper primo spot in downtown Asheville, the Grove Arcade's Portico Market.   My hottie friend, Kasey, runs Element Tree Essentials there and has been on me since the Summer to try to get a spot.

The manager had to review everything I wanted to offer.  I thought I'd show him  a good representation of everything Doodle Divas had to offer:

But even I didn't realize how EVERYTHING has evolved into much more.  In addition to prints and white white t-shirts, there are  folders . . .

mugs . . . 

paper clips . . . 

and soap!

Luckily, I had already organized my 'sample bin' and just needed to make an impromptu presentation.  He said he liked it.  But . . . , (there's always a BUT . . . ), he had to run some things by even more important people.

Later that same day he met with me again and informed me . . . 

DOODLE DIVAS IS IN!!!  :-)

Diva Sightings

Asheville is a fashion show.  I guess I'm so used to the abundance of creativity.  I forget sometimes.

I think Asheville has this reputation for being 'the mountains.'  Which it is. But the visual is very hiking, camping, REI.

And there is so much Much MUCH more to Asheville than hiking, camping,  and related.

When I think of Asheville, I think of the downtown scene with its artists, theaters, dance clubs, bars, restaurants, night life, tourists, eye candy and individuality.    And what better way to express it than with your own diva style.

Take these shoes:

This fetching little kitten was serving me up some caffeine in the form of an iced mocha when I happened to look down and see these beauties.

Are they not adorable?!  I know the whole gladiator look in heels is still going strong.  Funny how folks act like it was only popular for the past few years.  

I remember Thierry Mugler  had all the supermodels sashaying down runways and George Michael videos in those fierce little numbers back in the 90s.  I think they were so far ahead of their time that it was more like haute couture for art versus reality.

On this little lady, they're paired down to almost a sandal.  But they're actually part kitten heels, part sandal and part dress shoe. 

Regardless, they're 100% cute.  Very individual.  Very Asheville.
