Breast Cancer Awareness

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.  Cancer is a disease that always gets my attention when it comes up on the news.  Cancer has had an affect on me personally.

I'm grateful for the progress in research, early detection, and survivors.  However, I'm frustrated that it still has devastating consequences and claims lives.

Please get screened and get yourself checked routinely.

"Routinely" is debatable and controversial.

The general rule is:

A)Ages 40-49 - check with your doctor.

B)Ages 50+ - once every 1-2 years depending on age,

 family history, or previous cancer

C)Screw the general rule! It's your health. If something seems off and doesn't feel right, it doesn't matter how old your are or aren't.

Get yourself examined!

Talk Like A Pirate Day

America actually has a Talk Like a Pirate Day.  It's September 19th, Wednesday, this year.

Luckily, I already had a few Doodle Divas pirate themed items in place well before I heard of this occasion.

The latest Doodle Divas t-shirt strays from the norm with placement.  I wanted to mix it up.  So instead of front and center, I toyed with enlarged to cover the entire front or something.

One of them features . . . Doodle Diva Pirate with Crossbones!

Check it:

Quite timely huh?

Isn't it cute?!

And the real life little divas adore her too.  I'm probably having some made up for kids as well.

Meanwhile, I'm looking forward to seeing what other clever things are on the horizon.  For instance, there's a rumor Doodle Divas will introduce it's first line of unisex t-shirts at the end of September so the dudes can get in on the fun.

Doodle Diva Dudes . . . hmm . . . has a nice ring to it . . .   ;-)

"DD" not "$P"

This weekend I was matting some prints to showcase downtown the next day.  I came across this:

Don't you just love those "DD"'s?

"What DD's?" you ask.

"I see a weird dollar sign looking thingy and a 'P'" you may add.

Sigh. :-(

For some reason, I thought my initials for Doodle Divas looked artsy and clever.  Instead they looked  . . . puzzling to everyone else.

Oh well.  I figured would just point it out and discount it if anyone was interested.  I certainly wasn't going to throw away a matted print!

And to my surprise,  despite pointing this out to a couple that looked it over, they shrugged and insisted on purchasing it.

Funny how so many things are all in the eyes of the beholder.  :-)
