Growing up, I learned early a couple of things are HUGE for ladies. Top two or three . . . their HAIR!
Entire moods, days, and I imagine political platforms have been made or broken over women and their hair. The biggest enemy of hair appears to be moisture. Rain, showers, baths and sweating are carefully negotiated, planned and if at all possible, entirely AVOIDED to keep this nemesis far and away from delicate manes.
And since I have a diva-friend who refuses to exercise for fear of sweating her beautiful locks into a mass of tangled, pouffy, yuckiness, I was inspired to create this hair-aware diva. Let's hope her simple yoga pose doesn't cause her to sweat and do irreparable damage.
World War III would surely follow! ;-)

Roller Derby
There's an old rhyme that goes ' . . . sugar and spice and everything nice - that's what little girls are made of.'
Whatever!
Divas come in all sizes, shapes, colors and . . . ATTITUDES! Roller derby is making a comeback and I assure you, those girls are not all sugar and spice and everything nice. That will get you torn up on the derby.
Instead, they're more like the rest of the rhyme which describes little boys. Only I took some Doodle Divas liberty with it:
" . . . snips and snails and cans of 'WHOOP TAIL' - that's what Roller Derby Divas are made of!"
;-)

Diva Sightings - Super (She)ro
Who's that diva? . . .
This wife and mother of two dons a Doodle Divas superhero t-shirt. Considering Michelle is a wife, mother of two precious little girls, and works full-time, she's a superhero and diva by default!
Thanks Michelle! You are officially 100% Doodle Divas approved! :-)

Doodle Divas Big Dress
A Doodle Diva's passion for shoes is equally matched in their DISpassion for exercise. Blech! Hello. There's like perspiration and wet hair involved!
But Doodle Diva's are clever. So leave it to a Doodle Diva to figure out a way to incorporate burning calories into their fashion statements!
And their hair doesn't get the least bit out of place! ;-)

Doodle Divas Superstar
Ball gown is my all time fan favorite and bestseller. She is so popular she is practically a logo in and of herself. No other diva has even come close to her popularity. . .
. . . until a couple of months ago when I created this beauty.
She was a labor of love. It took a lot of patience and time, both of which are in short supply for me. But I knew she'd be worth it.
"Superstar" is my proudest diva creation. She's the one to beat. She raised the bar and to date, I've yet to come close.

Hotter Than The Fourth of July!
Doodles Divas are all about holidays and celebrations. They'll use any excuse to break out a new outfit - like they need one.
I wanted the girls to reference the pinups of yesteryear. They have a classic, nostalgic edge that lends itself naturally to that era.
I imagine this little diva entertaining the troops with a song and dance routine. And a radio announcer in the background blaring:
"You can look but be warned: Don't touch! She's hotter than the Fourth of July!"
(Think "A League of Their Own")

Princess K
I noticed two recurring themes were happening with Doodle Divas:
1) Their love of shoes.
2) Their love of weddings.
I'm not sure if it's weddings as much as wedding DRESSES.
Anyhoo . . . there of course was much hub-bub about the recent royal wedding. I thought how cute to do a play on the illustration I had done much earlier - "No Princess" . This time instead of disappointment to find out she was never actually a princess, do the reverse.
She finds out she actually IS a princess!
It worked.
"Princess K" was a super duper hit. It was the first time I had strangers from across oceans in other countries take note and 'like' one of my Doodle Divas.
Guess that goes to show the notion of a 'princess' inside every female is very true . . . even globally! :-)

No Princess
Doodle Divas are ironic creatures as well. Sure their gorgeous and powerful. But what fun would it be if they took themselves so seriously, they were caught off guard with reality?
Take this poor girl. All her life, her Mom and Dad have referred to her as 'Princess.' A lot of little girls get the same pet name.
This little girl was shocked to find out it was just an endearing term. She isn't REALLY a princess!??
I'm guessing she was on the verge of graduating high school and assumed a huge dowry or something. Imagine THAT dinner conversation!
Awkward.
