House with Coffee
Doodle Divas was excited to help come up with a concept for a local diva dj this month:
If you're in town January 10th, come get your dance on at Eagle St. Coffee House, (aka Eagle Street Coffee Emporium). A bonafide diva will be spinning House music to keep you in the groove! :-)
Hope everyone is having a fantastic start to the new year!!!

Birthday Girl
I had the distinct pleasure of being commissioned by the one
and only Bouquet Diva – Teresa of Elegance on the Avenue, to
do Doodle Diva-style print for her
daughter’s birthday. This was a
fun one!
Her uber hip and cool
daughter has dreadlocks, a nose ring and loves cats. I was eager for the challenge!
Here are the results for the birthday girl:
Thanks so much Teresa for letting Doodle Divas be part of
your daughter’s big day!
Wedding coming up? Be sure to check out Elegance on the Avenue for beautiful, custom, brooch bouquets.

Doodle Divas and “Teal for Good”
Recently I had the pleasure of working with Liz Sacks of
Avery-Hess Realty. Liz was
also my agent for Doodle Divas.
In all the time I worked with Liz, I had never met her in person.
Ironically, it was on one of my recent business trips to Vegas
that I met with Liz for the first time. In this technological age, all our correspondence and business was done via phone and computer.
During our meet and greet, I was asked to come up with
diva for Avery-Hess Realty’s initiative, “Teal For Good.” “Teal For Good” works with
several organizations in the DC metro area to help find housing solutions for
those in need. In clever, diva fashion, teal pashmina scarves are sold with all
of the proceeds going to this great cause.
Naturally, I was thrilled to come up with a DC Diva donning,
of course, a pashmina scarf:
Please be sure to read more about Avery-Hess’ Teal For Life
initiative and their partnering charities here http://teal4good.averyhess.com/
I was honored to create a diva for this worthy cause and
especially honored to finally meet my diva agent, Liz Sacks, in ‘real life.’

What Time Zone Am I In??
Holy Moly!
After another jaunt to Vegas, I’m just now getting back into the
swing of things. This was the
month of travel, Travel and TRAVEL!
I was in Vegas when the first day of Spring hit.
I was in Vegas on St. Patrick’s Day. Lots of green, Spring Breakers and celebration was happening
in Vegas. (including gentlemen in
kilts . . . nice).
So I missed posting my St. Patrick’s Day Diva:
Any ole hoo . . . it feels great to be home and in my own
natural time zone.
Many a diva was strutting her stuff in Vegas. And of course, tons of
divas were taking their chances at the slots and card tables.
To that end, I’m squeezing in a March giveaway for my Queen of
Hearts Diva matted print:
. . . and . . .
a Spring Diva t-shirt: (yellow, size Large, v-neck)
It’s easy to enter.
Comment here. “Like” or
comment on Doodle Divas’ Facebook page(s).
Winners announced before tax time next month . . . when we could
all use some GOOD news! ;-)

Congrats and Elegance on the Avenue
CoNgRaTuLaTiOnS to MiChI!!!
Michi won this month's Doodle Divas giveaway!
It has been a super busy month. Lots of traveling. I'm headed off to Texas and Vegas again.
I've never been to Texas, so I'm excited to check it out for the first time.
This month I also had the distinct pleasure of knocking out a commissioned piece for Teresa of Elegance On The Avenue. She creates amazingly gorgeous, custom, bridal wedding bouquets.
The bouquets all have unique touches that incorporate everything from vintage to contemporary and any color combination your mind can dream up.
You must check her out!!!
And of course, it only makes sense she should have her very own diva. So with her input, personality and photo for inspiration, I was tickled to come up with this:
I had a lot of fun with this one. Teresa was a jewel to work with!
Alas, I have a plane to catch tomorrow. Stay tuned. I suspect another giveaway is happening next month! ;-)

Chill In the Air
With the chill of Fall
weather upon us, it seemed appropriate to introduce some divalicious cold
weather apparel.
![]() |
It’s designed to stay on the
shoulders with the Doodle Diva and flowers on the front. But my buddy had fun
with it draping off a shoulder and wearing it backwards for an even cuter vibe.
Kind of brings to mind the glorious
days of ‘Flashdance”, the Go-Go’s and Valley Girls.
Regardless. Whatever way you wear it,
it’s a diva delight!

July is Over??!
I think one of the reasons it's so hard to believe this is the last day of July is because of all the darn rain!
No worries. I came up with a diva to mark this unusually rainy month.
Then of course there was Independence Day. Got a diva for that.
And the highlight of my month was my Vegas trip. You know I got a diva for that!

China Doll
I've been ridiculously busy with new ventures and opportunities of late. One of my tasks this month was to come up with a china pattern for Doodle Divas.
Here's a peek at the design:
Who knows . . . my china dolls could end up on someone's dinner table. Yum! :-)

Elegance On The Avenue
This is too sweet. I did some logo work for Teresa of Elegance on the Avenue. She wrote a blog entry about the experience.
Be sure to check out her bridal boutique: https://www.facebook.com/EleganceOnTheAvenue
Thanks Teresa! :-)
Her blog entry follows:
Elegance On The Avenue: Doodle Diva - Steven Hall: Did you ever come across something so fun, so energizing that you just had to have one? I did. And I got one of my own. Personalized. ...

Happy Easter
The weather finally warmed up and made for a gorgeous Easter weekend. I came up with a few Doodle Divas designs.
At the time they seemed out of sorts simply because the weather felt more like Christmas. Luckily, the weather made a turn for the better.

Soon the landscape outside my window may very well look like the inspiration for these latest creations.

Pink
Ugh! I had no idea about Pink being in concert tonight. I have a few friends that are jamming out right now in Charlotte, NC at her concert. I'm so jealous.
I love Pink. I think she is so bad ass! I like how she's real and no-nonsense. And I love her music. I have a couple of her hits in my iPod when I'm at the gym.
Pink is hot, smart, independent and super talented. And therefore, it's fitting she has inspired my latest Doodle Divas. Enjoy the show peeps!

Fabulous February
Wowzers!
What a month February has been:
-More mock-ups sent to Europe
-A couple of press releases
- Commissioned to produce items for a bridal shower
-Featured in a local newspaper
-Special Doodle Divas orders
-Proposal approved by local college
OK. Catching my breath.
Look for Doodle Divas in the March issue of Asheville Flyer for Kids. I'm uber excited because not only is Doodle Divas featured, but there's a coloring contest for the kids! Too cute.
Here's a peek at one of the latest divas for kids and adult apparel:
Stay tuned for a couple more divas including Basketball and Spring 2013 diva. Meanwhile, hope everyone had a fabulous February.
Bring it on March! :-)

Doodle Divas Press Release
I know. I know. It's been a minute.
To say I've been busy is an understatement. But I'm grateful for it. It's a good thing!
But just in time before the month is out, I do have something cool to post. I have my first press release!
*girly squeal* :-)
Thanks to all you Doodle Divas supporters!

The Perfect Diva
Lord have mercy! I have been one busy, Busy, BUSY little guy.
Wow.
Where do I start?
Actually, I'll start with one of my most important endeavors . . . learning Adobe Illustrator.
O . . .
my . . .
Gah!!!
No. Seriously. You have no idea.
I'm a traditional pen and paper kind of artist. All my divas are essentially free hand. However, computer graphic product mock-ups is the industry standard.
So I'm learning the basics of Adobe Illustrator. The process has been slow and painful . . . but rewarding.
Check out the before and after Rainbow Diva:

Manufacturers and myself prefer the after. Everything is uniform, consistent and crisp. In fact, my plan is to stop production of all the 'before' Doodle Diva heads and roll out the new versions.
Stay tuned for more updates. Rumor has it a local coffee shop's baristas might be sporting Coffee Diva!

Home-Schooled
So in the business of licensing art, it turns out sketches just don't cut it with a lot of manufacturers. I mean, it's practically 2013. Folks expect a certain type of professionalism.
Terms like mock-ups, prototypes, vector files, rasterize . . . they're being bounced around more and more the deeper I get into this whole licensing arena. I tried to stick to free hand and a stylus. Photoshop just puzzles me. Layers alone confuse me to no end.
Too bad so sad. The day has come. I must learn the basics of AI (Illustrator). Aaargh!
I just completed my first tutorial:
Isn't it exciting?! . . . NOT.
Sorry. Another frustration is everything Doodle Divas has to be kept under wraps. But I'm going to keep at it and update some Doodle Divas images.
Stay tuned for before and after images. Meanwhile, this student is taking a break!
